Dementia Care Skills Train The Trainer Course

The Dementia Care Skills Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Course is a 3-day programme by ADFM designed to develop a dedicated pool of trainers to educate family caregivers, volunteers, and healthcare workers in dementia care. Participants will learn to deliver ADFM’s standard training modules and gain the skills to conduct effective training sessions.

In return, trainees commit to volunteering a minimum of 16 hours per year over three years, supporting ADFM’s dementia-related programmes in areas aligned with their interests and expertise. This initiative ensures sustainable outreach by empowering local trainers to expand dementia awareness and caregiving knowledge across Malaysia.

Dementia Care Skills - Care Worker

The Care Workers DCS Workshop is a two-day training programme designed to enhance dementia care competencies among professional and family caregivers. Participants will gain essential knowledge in person-centred care, effective communication, and managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Through interactive lectures, discussions, and role-play activities, attendees will develop practical skills to provide safe, meaningful, and compassionate care.

Dementia Care Skills Caregivers Workshop

The Dementia Care Skills Caregivers Workshop is a one-day practical training designed for family members and caregivers of persons living with dementia. Participants will gain essential knowledge and hands-on skills to provide compassionate, person-centred care and better support their loved ones.

Key learning areas include understanding the impact of dementia, developing person-centred care plans, and managing unmet emotional and physical needs effectively.

Certificate: Certificate of Attendance provided upon completion

Open Learning

The ADFM Open Learning Platform is a structured e-learning programme designed for healthcare professionals who wish to strengthen their knowledge and skills in dementia care. It features expert-led, practical modules that deepen understanding of dementia, promote person-centred care, and enhance the quality of care delivery. All course content is developed by medical professionals and academic experts with extensive experience in dementia care and research.

Duration: Self-paced online learning + 6-hour in-person training + 1-day practical session
Format: Online modules, assessments, and hands-on practical training

Certificate:

•⁠ ⁠Certificate of Completion upon attending the 1-day practical training (fee applicable)
